The AI cheat check

I ran a bunch of my blog posts through an AI checker to see if the computer thinks any of my writing was AI-generated. It flagged two posts as written by AI with 100% certainty—as it turns out, the two that took me the longest to write!

Interestingly, these posts are the most devoid of opinion. I deliberately aimed for objectivity, summarizing existing thought. So, does AI consider adding personal spin inherently human? Is it the presence of mistakes, perhaps? And what does this imply for academic writing, which strives for measured, unbiased expression?

Maybe what makes our writing uniquely human is the struggle to articulate our thoughts, and the subtle ways our experiences shape our perspective—even when we consciously set them aside to produce measured, considerate prose. The human element might lie in the process of grappling with ideas, rather than in the polished final product.

P.S. I ran this post through aicheatcheck.com and it said it’s “100% certain” this was written by a human.
